When you love something, you want to be fully immersed in whatever it is. It is like when you are reading, and especially good book and the rest of the world fades away as you are drawn by every word on the page. You want this kind of zen-like focus on other things, but often there are distractions or drops in quality that mean that you never quite get that same feeling. There are, however, ways in which you can become fully immersed in what you love.

VR

Right now, VR is still finding its feet. However, that isn’t to say you can have some amazing experiences using a VR headset. The PlayStation VR headset works straight through your PlayStation 4 and allows you to experience your game catalogue in VR and movies, too. This means that all you see is the game, all you hear is the game and that you are drawn entirely into that world. There are other VR headsets including ones specifically designed for smartphones and PC’s, but the PlayStation VR headset offers the cheapest and the best experience on the market right now. There are also a lot of PlayStation exclusive VR games that you will not be able to play elsewhere. VR might not be for everyone, though, as it can make some people feel ill and often can’t be done for long periods of time. However, if you have not tried VR, then you should really try to have a go as it will transport you fully into a game like never before.

Simulation

When speaking about simulations, we are not talking about just playing a game like Train Simulator. Instead, things that simulate how something works down to the smallest detail, including you being inside a replica of what that thing is. For example, Cranfield Simulation creates an experience designed to teach professional drivers on realistic courses. It uses everything you would expect to see in a car including a headset (not unlike the VR ones) to put you directly into the driving seat. There are other such simulation experiences dotted around, so if you are interested in this kind of thing do a little research on your favourite area and see what comes up.

Escape The Room

An Escape The Room event is unlike anything else on this list. It is usually very low tech and instead relies on your brains and puzzle solving skills to figure out what is going on. The reason this is immersive is that you are thrown into a foreign situation where you must work as a team to escape the room. You quickly start to think about the puzzles and figure out what must be done next and the whole thing is exhilarating. There are plenty of these across the country, and more are betting set up each year, so if you have not experienced and Escape The Room yet, then you should look up the one nearest to you and go with your friends or family.
