Show / Hide / Combine Taskbar Labels In Windows

A few quick steps to changing the taskbar settings for showing or hiding labels.

[Solution 1] Windows 10 Taskbar


  1. Right click on the Taskbar and select Settings.
  2. Change the Combine taskbar buttons option to When taskbar is full or Never
  3. Change the Taskbar location on screen option if you wish to move the taskbar somewhere else.
  4. The new settings will be applied instantly.

[Solution 2] Windows 7 & 8 Taskbar


  1. Right click on the Taskbar and select Properties.
  2. Alternatively, open the Control Panel, click Personalisation and select Taskbar and Start menu.
  3. Under Taskbar appearance, change the Taskbar buttons option to When taskbar is full or Never
  4. Change the Taskbar location on screen option if you wish to move the taskbar somewhere else.
  5. Click OK to save the new settings.

[Solution 3] Reset the Taskbar settings


  1. Open Run and execute Regedit.
  2. Open HKEY_CURRENT_USER \Control Panel \Desktop \WindowMetrics.
  3. Search for the MinWidth key and delete it.
  4. Restart the computer to load the default taskbar settings.
